Allocator vacancy at Birmingham Airport

Night shift - 4 on 4 off shift pattern 7pm-7am

We are looking for a proactive and adaptable individual to join our BHX team, ensuring the allocation of key operational resources including equipment, facilities and the team are maximised effectively to meet the real-time and changing requirements of our customers. As an Allocator you will work within the night team, supporting the delivery of the highest level of cleaning standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-planning the allocation of tasks in advance as per flight schedules, taking into account the expected demands, schedules and rostered resource.
  • Pre-booking of equipment or resources including wash bays, arranging ground power.
  • Liaising with the airport authorities and airlines for special requirements.
  • Shift allocation planning considering the actual availability of resources and adjustment to the pre-planning.
  • Actively monitor the achievement of tasks, adapt the allocation plans and provide expert guidance to the operational shift as required to deliver unscheduled demands of customers.
  • Effectively and regularly communicate with cleaning teams to get progress reports and analyse progress against plan.
  • Direct extra support to teams falling behind of schedule and liaise with Duty manager on potential shortfall and issues.
  • Proactively monitor the effectiveness of the allocation plan and continually feedback recommendations to improve efficiency of service.
  • Review roster on regular basis in light of airline schedule updates and recommend changes to Duty Manager or Station Manager when necessary, to ensure all flights are adequately covered.
  • Work as part of a team ensuring smooth handover to and from colleagues on shift duties and covering for other departments or areas as required.
  • Supporting the on-time delivery of all nightly aircraft services within the designated time and to the required standard and satisfaction of the customer

Key Requirements

  • Ability to work afternoon/night shifts, but flexibility to work various shifts may be required.
  • A full manual driving licence recognised by the UK is essential
  • Previous experience in operational aviation resource allocation, shift management or overtime planning would be advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to quickly respond under pressure to dynamic changes during the shift.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively convey proposed recommendations and changes in allocation.
  • IT literate with a high proficiency of MS-Office, particularly Excel and experience utilising real-time allocation tools.
  • Right to work in the UK, 5 years' check-able work history and Clean Disclosure/ Criminal Record Check
