The General Manager Safety & Training, reporting to the Director of Seattle Operations, is responsible for the implementation and management the company safety management system (SMS) and training management supporting aviation operations at the Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA). While working closely with operational leaders, this position actively manages risk mitigation efforts to reduce employee injuries, EHS policy and procedure compliance, aircraft ground damage prevention, the application of a fair and just reporting culture, local training development and station training compliance.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITILES
- Closely partner with our customers and airport stakeholders to manage training and occupational health & safety programs for the SEA operation.
- Lead and mentor a team of safety and training supervisors responsible for executing health, safety, and training programs.
- Implement Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Behavior Based Safety Observations, and other EHS programs and initiatives.
- Foster relationships to secure influence with station management to drive EHS policies for compliance and mitigation of risk (both employees and aircraft/ground handling operations).
- Perform independent station audits with focus on EHS policies, programs & procedures.
- Lead and support all accident investigations and aircraft damage incident investigations to ensure root cause determination, corrective actions are identified with completion, accountability, and management ownership to drive effective change plus mitigation of risk.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Aviation, or related field is required.
- Three (3) to Six (6) years of relevant work experience is also required, in addition to strong leadership skills and track record of executing.
- Proven ability to solve complex problems and influence people across all functional areas
- Outstanding facilitator and communicator; lead innovation by teaching, consensus-building, and project execution
- Solid decision-maker with excellent analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and be self-starting on tasks within area of expertise
- Strong technical and business writing skills
- Proficient and experienced user of Office 365 apps/programs (Word, Power Point, SharePoint, Sway), including managing and manipulating data using Excel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Experience in airline/aviation-specific operations with creating, implementing, and improving region/division/company-wide safety and/or training programs
- Familiarity with pertinent regulations including OSHA, EPA, D.O.T., FAA, state and local EHS compliance regulations
- Experience with industry Learning Management Systems (LMS)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job the employee works indoors in a semi-private office, while performing multiple tasks under tight time constraints. During field visits the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions including rain, snow, sun and extreme cold and extreme heat and moving mechanical parts such as propellers and jet fans and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May work various hours, nights, weekends and holidays. Up to 50% travel may be required.
